Designing an IT communication space is often treated like an afterthought—until someone realizes the “network closet” is the size of a pantry, shares a wall with a mop sink, and has one duplex outlet powering the entire building. This session walks through how to properly design telecommunications rooms and equipment spaces in new construction so they actually support the technology they’re meant to house. We’ll cover practical guidance on room sizing, rack layout, pathways, power, lighting, and grounding—based on real-world experience and industry standards. The goal: build spaces that are scalable, serviceable, code-compliant, and don’t make your future self (or your contractor) regret every decision.
